Nashville - a quiet day
Maybe it was over sensory stimulation after an eventful day driving from Memphis to Nashville, enjoying a bit of Nashville live music and then taking the car back to the airport, but Jenny and I had trouble getting to sleep last night. Catherine had gone out for a walk, so Jenny and I had a midnight snack and turned on the TV to see a bit of news. Outside a thunderstorm with lightning and rain was disturbing the peace. Inside we came across the Democratic Debate to decide who would lead the party in 2020. It was sort of interesting, but a bit too heavy for us. So we flicked around the channels until we found the Jodie Foster movie Flight Plan.
We turned on the tellie at the bit when the plane had landed .... in Newfoundland, the passengers on the plane have disembarked, and the airliner door has closed. Kyle (Jodie Foster) knocks Carson (the baddie - a hijacker) unconscious with a fire extinguisher, handcuffs him to a rail, and takes the detonator he is carrying. Stephanie (the other baddie) appears and uncuffs Carson as he regains consciousness. He then goes after Kyle who locks herself in the cockpit. A panicked Stephanie flees the airliner while Kyle finds her unconscious daughter in the avionics area and narrowly avoids Carson. He reveals that he abducted Julia and dumped her in the food bin and that her husband David had been murdered so that explosives could be concealed in his casket (which are not required to be x-rayed). Kyle, carrying Julia, escapes into the aircraft's non-combustible hold. When Carson finds Julia gone, he turns his back and taunts Kyle, who closes the hold's door behind her just as Carson starts shooting at her. Leaning on David's casket, she detonates the explosives, killing Carson and destroying the front landing gear.

William Owen Bradley (October 21, 1915 – January 7, 1998) - an American musician and record producer who, along with Chet Atkins, Bob Ferguson, Bill Porter, and Don Law, was one of the chief architects of the 1950s and 1960s Nashville sound in country music and rockabilly.
We kept walking and said "G'Day" to a couple of guys who were on their way home from a gig. They wanted to tell us their life story. We ended up having a discussion about Job and then we were serenaded with One Day At A Time Sweet Jesus ... (It's almost a recurring theme!) Suddenly, the wind came up and whooshed through the streets. Bins and potted plants were getting blown over. We sheltered in an alley way for a few minutes, then quickly made our way back to the hotel, had a cup of coffee, watched a local TV channel and waited for breakfast to be served.
The ladies at the breakfast bar were just lovely. One cooked us some eggs, and I tried a waffle. Then we wearily made our way upstairs and crashed into bed. I slept until 5.25pm!!
Upon awakening, I had a shower and collected up my dirty clothes and went to the laundry to get them washed. I was happy that I could use my card to activate the washing machine and dryer. I predict it won't be long before coins will be redundant!
Jenny and I then took ourselves off to a supermarket to buy some food we wanted to eat that wasn't going to send us broke. We were intrigued by some of the things we saw on sale:

So many things we'd normally not see in an Australian supermarket.
Tomorrow we'll do a tour of Nashville and see some of the homes of the stars. Our agent booked this tour for us. We'll also head to Broadway (one of the main streets in Nashville) and check out the music. There are some wonderful exhibitions to choose from:

Until tomorrow ...

At an airport hangar the next morning, the plane's Captain (who had doubted her story and sanity) apologises to Kyle. Handcuffed Stephanie is led away by FBI agents, while Kyle carries the still unconscious Julia through the crowd of passengers to a waiting minivan. Julia awakes as Kyle is getting inside the van and sleepily asks, "are we there yet" as the minivan drives away.
It probably wasn't the best movie to try and sleep after!! Catherine got back. We turned off the light ... but sleep was still elusive. So at 4am Jenny and I got up and went for a walk up the road on which our hotel was situated. We met up with ....
